Why does EUTOO matter?
We all know the giants of social media, created in countries such as the US, China and Russia. But only a small part of what we see on these platforms is about the people, cultures and daily lives in the European Union.
Therefore, the birth of the EUTOO App!
The EU needs its own platform for communication—a platform tailor-made for the people who live here. Through dialogue and human interaction, EUTOO hopes to bring us closer together from within. It is one step in the right direction for the EU.
EUTOO is politically independent and party-neutral. We are a tiny team with a BIG dream, hoping that grassroots culture still exists and that this idea can spread from person to person and country to country.
Our ambition is to provide a great looking and smoothly running social media App that brings the EU closer together while cherishing and strengthening the diversity of our 27 countries, with their different histories, cultures and habits.
On EUTOO, the user has a voice and every opinion weighs - but only if we participate.
The EUTOO App has, among other things, been developed to:
1Give the EU its own social platform
EUTOO is not simply another EU subgroup hidden inside a foreign app. It is a complete social media platform created specifically around the people, countries and shared life of the European Union. More than 350 million adults above the age of 18 live within the EU. Our goal is to connect, unite and raise awareness among as many of them as possible.
2Your Voice
‘Your Voice’ is on EUTOO’s main interface on the App and is specifically designed for sharing opinions and conversations between people across the EU. Communication unifies and silence divides. Whether we agree or disagree, communication helps us understand one another. Every user can become the host of a conversation and make their voice heard, with dedicated forums, covering EU politics, EU culture, national content, health, sport and gossip. You might describe it as something like a European X—but with a broader purpose.
3Create awareness in EU politics.
Therefore, EUTOO should make it easier to follow EU affairs—for example, EU politics, the European Parliament and the elected representatives who represent us as citizens. For many years foreign social media has taught us more about senators, governors and presidents abroad than about the representatives in our own European backyard—where we actually have a voice and a vote.
4Celebrate and strengthen European culture
Users can create greater awareness of European culture, music, art, entertainment, sport, everyday life and, yes, even gossip. Europe is not one culture. It is 27 national cultures, countless local traditions and around 450 million people—and that diversity deserves to be seen and shared.
5Your Moment
‘Your Moment’ is also on the main interface. It is where we can have fun sharing our daily life and also meet people. Users can share photos, videos and personal updates while staying connected with friends and family. You might describe it as something between a European Facebook and Instagram—but built around our own European community.
6Created and hosted within the EU
Imagine a serious emergency or international conflict, Europe should not be entirely dependent on foreign social media platforms for communication. EUTOO is created, hosted and operated within the European Union. European communication and European data should have a secure home in the European Union.
7National
‘National’ you will find on the main EUTOO interface as well, dedicated to information from the user’s own country and residency. This could include important national information, emergencies, public guidelines, celebrations and other matters relevant to daily life. Instead of being hidden inside a subgroup that few people notice.
8Human interaction instead of distraction
The entertainment on EUTOO comes primarily through interaction between people—not from a constant stream of pop-up entertainment and distractions. We don’t tell people what to think. After all, better conversations create stronger communities.
9Every opinion weighs
Every opinion weighs—but only through human participation. Without participation, EUTOO will go nowhere, and the citizens of the EU will remain a little less connected and a little less informed about the people and events around them.
10A unique different and accessible design
EUTOO has a minimal, simple and easy-to-use design. Its main interface provides direct access to several different subjects and features, together with private messaging. The intention is to make EUTOO interesting, fun, welcoming and accessible to users across a wide range of ages.
